Well it's day 1 of the boys staying home from school for the month. Giggle

Their parents decided to keep them home for the month in hopes of avoiding them getting sick. So many illness' are flying through their daycare and we were getting concerned. They have had colds for a few weeks now and we are trying our hardest to keep them from getting the flu. I think because their mom is an infectious diseases doctor and is seeing first hand how badly the N1H1 is affecting young children she opted to keep them home. They are getting the vaccine in a week or two so once it takes effect I think we will all feel better knowing they are at least a little protected. I know many have mixed feelings about messing up their routine and all and we are nervous about that as well, but their parents feel this is best for them.

I guess they are going to keep them completely at home and you too and themself? Im not meaning that to be snarky but kids not in school get just as sick as kids in school and if shes around germs like that all day shes bring it home too. Me I wouldnt have don that . Just taught them to not touch thier face. I also would have just ask the school how they are handling the germs now . More hand washing etc?

I was pretty surprised when they told me they are keeping them home, but I figure they are the parents, who am I to disagree with how they raise their kids? Giggle To be honest though, I'm kinda looking forward to not rushing 3 mornings a week to get them ready and out of the house, it will be nice to just relax and spend time with them!

anna while I see your point about that my guess is that THEY are in complete control of the hygiene if they keep them at home. I am not going to lie, I panicked a bit after working in Ella's preschool the first time knowing the flu was going around like crazy. While we try to be on top of hand washing and good hygiene there are 30 kids between the 2 classes and only 4-5 adults. It was hard. I saw many kids coughing and not covering their mouths. Ella gets hand sanitizer put on her hands a TON when I take her out in public(as do my other kids but they are old enough to truly understand the importance of good hygiene) so I feel more in control of at least knowing I am doing that part with her. I ultimately opted to NOT take her out of preschool but I can certainly appreciate why some might since preschool isnt a NECESSITY.
