oops Ok, so I know Ryan is getting old to still be on the bottle, but that is obviously my doing. I've been to tired to deal w/ his throwing the sippy cup at me and crying for his bottle so I just give in. Dh and is on me about it, but I think it's because he's embarrassed by it. To me I just really don't care what others think. It's Ryan's thing just like kids who still uses the binky. With that all said I would like to try and see if he can give it up. What is the best way to get him to give it up? TIA.

How many does he have a day? If its just 1 or 2 I would just do it cold turkey and within a day or 2 he will get over it. Or if you are not comfortable with that then on't give him formula or juice or milk in it only give him like luke warm water and then offer the good stuff in a cup or sippy. He is old enough that he doesn't need it, he is just doing it for comfort. Plus at this age it could be affecting his teeth and potential potty training so I would try either one of those ideas! Good luck its going to be tough but he will do it stay strong! It will be easier to do it now then in 3 months when you have a newborn and he is stealing the bottle from him. Hugs

At this age cold turkey would be best most likely. It will be a tuff few days but do it now before the baby gets here. If your not up to that only give water in the bottle and even witha little lemon juice to make it not taste so good. Also use newborn nipples or maybe even the preemie ones. He wont like the fight of how hard adn bad it tastes.

I did the cold turkey thingy with Sophia 3 months back. She's like, she needs it every time she goes to bed. And I know its goin to ruin her teeth, so I have tried to get rid of it once and for all, plus cleaning the bottles for me is a big pain in the (u know what...) Giggle

I would just go cold turkey. He'll throw some temper tantrums for a few days but he'll get over it. We went cold turkey with the boys and they didn't even care, getting rid of the binky was harder than bottles LOL.

I agree with the other ladies about going cold turkey. I know it seems so hard when they are young and cant understand you really on WHY your doing it but I would def want to get rid of them before the new baby gets here.

I hope it goes well when you do start! I got Ainsley off the bottle right at a year because I was sure it would be harder once Amelia came and she saw someone else with them. Its hard facing the thought of doing it, but once its done you look back and realize it was no big deal! Good luck!

I just nixed the binky for Dylan. We did the bottle around 15 months. I did both cold turkey. For the bottle, he was a bit fussy, but nothing crazy, cuz I never put him to bed with it. So there was no falling asleep with it. The binky.... he cried like a crazy man for 3 nights. Then it got better. He has been off it now for 2 weeks, and oddly enough, he saw one today and cried for nap. lol But he quickly stopped (like within 1 minute) and went to sleep. I need to chuck them in the garbage.

Well I did switch about two weeks ago and bought the Nuby Sports cups, which kinda looks like a bottle. Ryan's been doing really good with. I gave it to him and smacked it and then just started drinking out of it. So no more bottles. Woo hoo!

That's what I did with Ayden. I got him the nubby sports bottles 1st and then switched to the sippy cup type lids and it worked wonderfully!
Glad to hear bottles are gone and good luck getting him to regular sippy's!!!

OMG I totally forgot about those! I had to do that with Baylee! The Nuby sport tops were the only ones she would take for a few months, then we graduated to the regular Nubys, now to regular cups (she kept chewing out the spill proof part lol).
