I have a question for you guys. I know you arent medical professionals, just asking for advice.

My fifteen year old daughter, Tori, has been having shoulder pain the last few days. It started one evening and she can barely move her arm it hurts so badly. She did not injur it. She said she has a history of feeling like it needs to be popped back into place, and has been able to pop it back before, but it wont now.

I took her to the doctor the next day because it was getting worse. She hates to complain and I had to just watch her to see if she was in pain. When she asked her sisters to help brush her hair because she could not lift her arm I knew it was time to take her in.

The dr did x-rays, and all showed normal. This was Thursday. The dr said to rest it, put her in a sling, and said to follow up if it didnt get better. The next day I ended up calling the doctor's office and told them it was worse, she was walking around with her arm just hanging there, said it hurt to even move. The dr said the radiologist read the x-rays and said everything looked fine but if she still had problems in a few days we will need for her to see an orthopedist.

Anyone have an idea for what may be going on? When I took her in she was running a low-grade temp, neither one of us realized it. It was 99.8.

I am worried and she has youth camp this next week. She is determined to go...but I worry she will get out to Colorado and be in severe pain.

Any advice?

Hmm Im not sure it sounds like shoulder pain I've had before...but mine felt like muscle spasms, could it be that?

I am not sure...I can only go by what she tells me and it doesnt sound like muscle spasms because she says it is a constant pain that gets worse when she tries to move it. She says it hurts worse than when she broke her ankle a few years ago.

In my opinion and this is just coming from how my docs do things.....I would ask that they get an MRI of her shoulder....something could be wrong that is not showing up on a plain film xray.....

First of all, let me say that I do believe in true love. But I also deeply believe in the complexity, variety, and downright insanity of love. A lucky person loves hundreds of people in their lives, all in different ways, family love, friendship love, romantic love, all in so many shades and depths. I don't think you lose your ability--or right--to have true love by loving more than one person. In part, this is true because you never love two people the same way. Another part of it is that, if your lucky, you learn to love better with practice. The bottom line is that you have to choose who you are going to commit to-that's the foundation of true love, not a lack of other options. ~Stephenie Meyer

I know that I am new to this site. But I saw your post about your daughter's shoulder pain. I found a product that is soooo much better than BenGay or even Mineral Ice. It's called Pain-a_trate. It has camphor, menthol and this wonderful oil in it. It even works on bruises. I have been using it since my injury back in January when I fell down a flight of stairs. Messed up my knee pretty bad. Even though I have had surgery on my knee- this stuff helps when the pain flairs up (especially on rainy das like this-LOL). Fire off and email to me if you are interested in finding out more about Pain-a-trate.

Thanks for the advice, she is doing better. Sorry I havent been able to update, my computer has been down.

She told me that when she woke up last Friday and moved her arm she felt it pop and heard lots of loud cracking. She said it is sore, but feels better. She went to camp and every time I ask how her arm is doing, she says it is ok.

It is weird because the dr said the x-rays showed it wasnt out of socket or anything, so I wonder what would cause the cracking noises.

Anyway, thanks again! When she gets home I will see whether she is favoring it still.
