I had my apendix taken out 2.5 weeks ago. It was an open apendectomy, my apendix burst. I had some complications before and during surgery from an allergic reaction to the IVP dye from the CT scan. So I expected the recovery to be slow. I am feeling better, but just below my belly button is very sore, and feels rock hard when I push on it. Does anyone know, is this just a normal part of healing? I've tried calling the doctor to ask, but I haven't heard back yet.
The soreness would be expected I would imagine...my surgery in November was laprascopic and I know I was sore at the incision for a bit...the hardness could be scare tissue starting to build up...but I would definately ask them..
And make sure they mark your chart for that you are allergic to contrast...and that you get pre-medicated if they ever have to use it again! Those reactions are scary!
First of all, let me say that I do believe in true love. But I also deeply believe in the complexity, variety, and downright insanity of love. A lucky person loves hundreds of people in their lives, all in different ways, family love, friendship love, romantic love, all in so many shades and depths. I don't think you lose your ability--or right--to have true love by loving more than one person. In part, this is true because you never love two people the same way. Another part of it is that, if your lucky, you learn to love better with practice. The bottom line is that you have to choose who you are going to commit to-that's the foundation of true love, not a lack of other options. ~Stephenie Meyer

I was thinking maybe scar tissue?!?! I cant remember, I had my gall bladder taken out but it was done laproscopically as well but I know I was soooooooo in pain like I had never been in pain before afterward.
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!
I had no idea you were sick, Nomi! I'm glad you're ok now (I wondered where you disappeared to again so fast). Who knows what it could be though the tenderness is probably normal. I'd definitely follow up with your doctor! Hang in there and keep us posted.

I was thinking scar tissue too, and that it would be a larger area because it was an open appi, but I'll definately mention it when I get into her! Thank-you!
