We mostly due cold lunch(home lunch),only because its too costly to buy,and its nothing special or nothing like we got when we went to school. It`s the Typical chicken nuggets, pizza, rib sandwhich etc..they do get a fruit or veg,and milk ,juice bar or cookie. When I went we had things like.. turkey, salad, veggies, milk, desert ham, salad, veg, fruit, milk ,desert more of a complete meal.
Most of the time Brantley brings his lunch. One or two times a week he will buy his based on the menu. Since we pay full price it gets expensive real quick. It is fun to see exactly what he is eating since I get to eat lunch with him every day this year.
Well since we get free lunches I have my kids eat at school. I will say though that I look at the menu and think lunches have gone down hill big time. Sample days are stuffed breadsticks/hamburger/chef salad and you get two choices of either carrot coins, pineapple tidbits or fruit juice. they do pretzels with cheese , bologna and cheese, pancake on a stick stuff like that. We never got those as choices lol. Its a little better this year then last, every day there was something that I shook my head about being on there. Some suggestions for home lunches though, I saw them somewhere. Wraps, the traditional lunch meat wrap, or pizza wrap which is the wrap with pizza sauce, pepperoni and cheese, peanut butter with sliced bananas and raisins in a wrap.
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!
I will say though that I look at the menu and think lunches have gone down hill big time.
I know! You would think with everyone on a healthy eating kick that the kids would have better choices.Ours are the exact same,We probably have the same catering company/food service.
For the most part mine take their lunches, for one thing, they are picky,so I know I am packing things that they like, they eat slow, so it speeds up the process by them not having to stand in line to wait on a tray lunch. But the biggest reason is with 2 kids in school, it's way too expensive to let them buy it every day. $20 a week really adds up that's $80 a month, and I can feed them way cheaper than that I will let them look at the menu, and maybebuy lunch a few times here and there but that's it. They have things like nuggets, sub sandwiches, pizza rolls, chicken strips.

We do hot lunch though sometimes I wonder if that's the best choice as they seem to be so unhealthy a good amount of the time. It can be expensive since we pay full price but our schedules are so busy that the saved time (shopping, packing, whatever) really helps and since right now we are only paying for her, we buy it. Home lunch in our house has actually become a treat...kind of sad since I like to be strict about nutrition but I had to let this one go.
I leave it up to the kids....the cafeteria is the only thing at our school I probably don't complain about...our head of the cafeteria can cook and the kids get big home cooked lunches...for like $3...that's cheaper than Mc'd's and worth what they get...
Some samples of days my kids bought are
Chicken Noodle Soup Grilled Cheese Crackers Fruit
Lasagna Garden Salad Garlic Bread fruit
Baked Chicken Seasoned Rice Green Beans Roll Apple Pie
I even like their lunch....the lasagna is awesome!
First of all, let me say that I do believe in true love. But I also deeply believe in the complexity, variety, and downright insanity of love. A lucky person loves hundreds of people in their lives, all in different ways, family love, friendship love, romantic love, all in so many shades and depths. I don't think you lose your ability--or right--to have true love by loving more than one person. In part, this is true because you never love two people the same way. Another part of it is that, if your lucky, you learn to love better with practice. The bottom line is that you have to choose who you are going to commit to-that's the foundation of true love, not a lack of other options. ~Stephenie Meyer

Tay does hot lunch. She has reduced, so its cheap enough. She gets about the same things as Chelle's school. They are on a serious health kick here, although some of it is questionable!! lol But with her in junior high, they can also choose the cart outside which has less healthier options.

Wow I will take that 20 a week, lol. Since both girls are in regualar school together this year if I let them both buy it would cost me, almost 30 a week.
So they both take home lunches. Once in awhile I will let them buy lunch, but not often
All kids in our parish get free breakfast its a government program. Then Quinn gets free lunch so he eats at school for lunch. If he wants to eat here for breakfast its a bowl of cereal most days.
