(Not sure if I spelled that right) I read an article on it...there have been over 8,000 SERIOUS reports of injury from seizures and death. Those dont include the 'slight' reactions that people have gotten. Apparently the drug companies have been told to pull it off the market because it is not safe. Glad I didnt jump on that bandwagon!

I'd have to read the article before I say it should be pulled. There were quite a few people that it was given too that it shouldn't have been , there were pregnant women and I forgot the other class dumbnut docs were giving it to when it clearly was stated it shouldn't be.

Honestly out of all our patients we have given it to, none of them have had any type of reaction short of soreness at the injection site. I would think after the thousands we gave them too we would see something. Of course my docs I work for are conservative , and one even practices holistic medicine...so if someone is in a higher risk category they wouldn't chance it and recommend it. I think that's one way things get out of control some docs don't look at the big picture of the patient....they just go oh you fit age range let's give you this.

Like my OB she told me about it (thought I already knew) said she didn't really consider me high risk enough to get it, since I'm married and in a commited relationship and since we'd been together so long and had both been tested and never had anything, I should be good. Though she said let her know if my situation changes.

I'm glad I have a few more years before I have to decide if Brie should get it or not...

Every type of medication has someone who cannot take it. (hundreds, or thousands of people) That is why they come with warning labels.

I'm just glad I don't have girls and don't need to even worry about it. These things need years of research and new problems will always crop up.

I couldn't find anything new about this on cnn or fox news. There are always going to be reactions, but the ? is, is it okay for the masses and are the risks worth what its protecting against.

I agree Melissa...is the risk worth it? I would rather wait for years like others and see what happens first!

Like A said I'm glad i have all boys and dont have to really worry about it. but with every medicine there are risks and people who shouldn't take it.some people have allergic reactions and would have never know they were allergic until they had the shot...(hope that makes sense)

Actually even parents with boys should do research because at some point it's going to start being recommended for boys as well.

I've read a bit about it and it is one that until it has been out on the market for several years I would not give it to my boys. There are still far to many unanswered questions about it.

I'm glad that Leah's young enough that there's more time to research it before I have to consider giving it to her. My sister's friend got it -- did you know it's a series of shots? I thought it was just one. Anyway, Brandi got it and said each time they gave it to her, her whole arm hurt for like 3 days. Kinda makes me glad I'm too old to get it....that, and I wouldn't need to get it anyway!

Condoms protect against the HPV virus... I know too many women who are on the pill or depo and have had the Guardisil shot who now think they're pretty well protected... I think it gives a false sense of security, and the teenagers being targeted for this drug are likely to think that way as well... I think there are way too many reasons NOT to use a condom these days. I think I will hold off on the shot for my daughter and just do my best to stress the importance of condoms when she becomes sexually active. I don't expect her to stay virginal until marriage, but what's so wrong with using a condom until then? JMO...

But see that's the thing "if this vaccine works the way it's suppose to" (which I can't say is a fact for sure really yet" but IF) then this is suppose to protect that 1 time you are so caught up in the moment that you throw caution to the wind, or your mind is being so blown it's the furthest thing from your mind, which I've sure we've all been there once, even the most responsible people can have a weak moment. That one time that could lead to years and years of medical problems. No it doesn't take the place of condoms, condoms should still be used, and if someone thinks that it does or doesn't want to educate that it doesn't then they don't need to be giving the shot nor taking the shot.

It's not about whether or not you decide to get it for me, it's about making sure you make an educated decision not to get it, whether you choose to or not, to me you should make sure that you learn all the true facts about it whether it be good or bad. You can't base it on decisions other's make, you have to make it on what is right for you.

I think she "can" get it now....but you can also get it at an older age as well....most kids aren't sexually active at 10...so it's not something you have to worry about "today"

here is another post I made to today, about some interesting info I found out about HPV as well...
