So I have a kid with the goofiest hair...
Emma has hair that naturally grows like Mrs.Bradys..If I let it grow long she has this top layer that never seems to get long like the rest.So it looks like Carol Bradys hair. Its such a funny thin texture too,dry,course,brittle..She wants to let it grow long but it never looks nice.Unless I spend at least a half hour blow drying, fla ironing her hair...Her little friends mom suggested a body wave, but Im worried it would all break off....lol Any ideas for a shampoo, conditioner or treatment.shes using redken all soft....but it almost seems her hair is greasy looking.

I would try a hot oil treatment as already recommend or a deep conditioning treatment. Those might help if her hair is dry and brittle.

My sister found that having her girls sleep on a silk pillow case helped with the dryness and frizzy waves. I used to have hot oil treatments all the time when I was younger. But I also did body waves.

Maybe take her in to the saloon and let them do that deep conditioning thing with the dryer. I love it and here its only $10.00. They wash my hair then put this stuff on it and put me under the dryer for a while I guess its like a hot oil treatment.

i use fantastic style pomade (think got it at fantastic sams salon) and got2b crazy sleek (hot smooth- flat iron & blow dry lotion) (got from grocery store)on my hair while its wet and then blow dry it...don't have to flat iron it because it puts enough weight in it that it lays flat and frizz free. I have really think hair that goes everywhere if I don't iron it but that stuff usually does the job, only iron it when I'm going out and want it super super flat.

I also use herbal essences-long term relationship (leave in split end protector for long hair). I put it in after I wash my hair but before I towel dry it so the towel gets some of the extra off. I wear my hair pulled up a lot and this has helped with the splitting where the elastic is and even breakage from yanking a comb or brush through it...seems to even help weight it down to help lay even flatter.

Try a good round heat activated ion brush, some pomade (read the back its not all the same, some is like glue for making spikes or hair glued in place)/& or a combo of stuff like mentioned above but make sure its the heat activated stuff (minus the leave in treatment), put it in her hair and comb through well and section hair starting at bottom and blow dry hair pulling brush straight down and continue up her head that way. It will dry a lot faster in the sections and the direction you dry the hair is the way it will lay, so if you pull it straight down and smooth it is more likely to stay that way esp with help of heat activated products.

Hope that maybe helps and could cut out the flat iron for you. The got2b stuff I mentioned is great to use for blow drying and flat ironing every single time though, you need to use some type of protection from the heat on hair all the time.

sorry that's kinda long to get all out.

Honestly, I would make her an appointment at a nice salon and see what they suggest. I have super curly hair and I was so lucky my Dad owned a salon and I was able to learn how to tame it without damaging it. It will be worth the money.
