I Have Too Much Spare Time

Jordan is already starting to get out of the nap and it is driving me INSANE!!! I NEED her to go lay down during the day...one so she won't be so crabby and two so I can get some peace for a little while. For at least the last month I will keep her in her room for nap time (usually 12-2) but she won't sleep! She'll sing to herself, play with her dolls, anything except sleep. I'll go in a couple times and tell her get into bed and go to sleep! I'll just hear her banging on things. UGH.

Tyler napped until he was 4 years old - Jordan isn't even 3 yet and doesn't want them any more. Oh boy...what am I going to do.....

Jackson grew out of his at about 2.5 and Ayla takes them most of the time but it depends. We do "quiet time" here now. FOr Jackson he gets a movie and some books in his room during Ayla's naptime and if Ayla doesn't nap, I'll let her babble away in there lol

Well you were lucky you got one kid to nap until 4.......lol. Erynn was done right around 2 yrs old, Ella is already showing signs of not wanting/needing them anymore at 2yrs 3 months. I have still always done quiet time too, it might be just we all chill out on the couch and watch a movie or something or the kids might read, whatever but we still have to have a quiet time(its for MY sanity but still......lol)

We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!

Justin was done with naps at 2, but we did an hour of quiet time every day until he was almost 4. Ryan is still nappoing most days and he is 3, on days when he doesn't nap he queistly lays on the couch or my bed and watches tv. I really hope Sean keeps napping until he is at least 4. LOL I need my quiet time!

Madalyn is just 3 and is out growing her's too, but we have quiet time here. As long as she stays in bed she can look at books and play with her stuffies, but she has to be quiet.

The nice thing is, once Jackson was done with naps, he would go to bed and be totally out by 8 pm at the latest. No arguements, nothing! So I kinda like that better anyway, although I would kill to have my daytime quiet time now being preggo! I miss being able to nap when he naps.

I've just been leaving her in her bedroom anyway (she can't come out until i let her because the doorknob is turned around and i lock it) I really want her to nap, but at least she's in her room, sitting on the bed, talking to herself, or looking at a book. After I go in a couple times to try to get her to lay down, if she's still not wanting to nap I leave her in there for a while. unless she starts whining for me. it is kind of a good thing without a nap she gets so tired she falls asleep early without a fight. but on the other hand i NEED my quiet daytime (i have work to type and soaps to watch!LOL)

My sister whos got a 3 and a half y/o son tells me she just sticks to a routine. What you're doing after-lunch naps is good...she said it usually works best to have naptime right after lunch. This way, your kid will always know that when lunch is over, it's time to wind down and get ready for a rest. Have a naptime routine that's similar to your bedtime routine, such as reading the same going-to-bed book or having a cuddle.

It may be hard to stick to a regular nap schedule when you're on the go, but making the extra effort to do so will pay off —she said that kids who nap well are happier and healthier than those who don't.

When your kid no longer needs a nap, replace naptime with quiet time. Quiet time is just as important, as it gives everyone a chance to take a rest and rejuvenate for the day.

neither Aidan or Cade nap anymore... it seems now that if Cade actually does take a nap he wakes up even crankier than before.
