LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) A Lakeland eighth-grader has been
suspended from riding the school bus for three days after being
accused of passing gas.

The bus driver wrote on a misbehavior form that 15-year-old
Jonathan Locke Jr. was passing gas on the bus Monday to make the
other children laugh, creating a stench so bad that it was
difficult to breathe. The bus driver handed Locke the suspension
form the next day.


Polk County school officials say there's no rule against
flatulence, but there are rules against causing a disturbance on
the bus.

Locke says he wasn't the one passing gas.

Whether he did it or not, he might have gotten off easy. A
13-year-old student at a Stuart school was arrested in November
after authorities said he broke wind in class.


While I feel this is extreme I must say it's not near as extreme as the other student who was arrested!!!

It is completely ridiculous! Not a suspend worthy action.

But, LOL, the boy goes to a (last resort type) school where they have all had problems in their previous schools. Maybe they have to be strict about everything.

Still think it is ridiculous though.

If he was intentionally repeatedly passing gas i certinaly think he should be punished, i don't find that funny, i find it irritating and disgusting, i understand it's a natural body function but when kids are doing it to get laughs that's just ridiculous! But anyway lol, I don't see suspending him for it or god forbid arresting another kid over it, put them in detention or something, something where they can still learn in school

While I think the punishment is harsh I understand the driver's annoyance. This year I had a student who was doing this on purpose during a writing lesson (he hates to write). I mean the kid was lifting his leg and cracking up. The kids that sat around him were covering their faces with their shirts and getting up and walking around the room. Kinda makes it hard to teach with such a situation. Kinda makes it hard to drive a bus if students are getting out of their seats to get away from the stench.

Yea i CAN NOT stand when kids do that it gets underneath my skin, and my dh along with many other men i know, still to this day thinks it's funny and it drives me crazy, i certainly think he needs to be punished but i agree this was a little harsh, they have to maintain control in schools and i completely understand that.
