LANGLADE, Wis. (AP) — A motorist relying on a GPS navigation unit found out the hard way that technology is not always the answer. Sheriff's officials said a woman was driving when the best routing from the GPS sent her onto a road that forked into a snowmobile trail. Several miles down the frozen path she stopped and couldn't turn around in about a foot and a half of snow surrounding the car. She called 911 at 10:44 a.m. Deputy Keith Svoboda said it took a while to find her and much longer to get heavy equipment in to free the vehicle. Deputies dropped her at a motel for the night. Svoboda said the lesson is, "People shouldn't believe everything those things tell you."
I am the type of person where I'm always telling dh just listen to the garmin lol but eeeek I can't imagine!
Lol I love my garmin and have had very few problems with it but i also use common sense, I wouldn't dare go driving down a road with feet of snow even if my beloved garmin told me to lol, when I was going to meet dh this weekend it tried to send me on a road that had been dead ended and replaced with an interstate lol but i figured it out, generally it gets me where I need to go without any issues.
Haha! I know my garmin has sent me on several wild goose chases. Dh is better than me and knows when he is going the wrong way. He will turn the way that feels right and the gps will catch on.
he's got a great sense of direction.. me.. not so much!
lol
But a little common sense does go a long way!
Jesse and I have gotten to where we read the directions on the garmin before leaving to make sure it's taking us the right way. That way we're not making stupid turns just because it tells us to!
