How soon is too soon to do a home pregnancy test?

My ovulation date was last week Tuesday and my next period should only be coming on 13 May, but I don't think my nerves will survive until then!!!

Also, I had these funny dizzy spells yesterday. Not normal "black spots before your eyes" kind of dizzy, but "water on the brain, loose my balance" dizzy.

Any ideas?

I know it is hard to wait cause you really want to know, but I would wait at least 1 week after your AF is due. Your hormone levels in your urine might not be high enough for a test to detect that early. With my experiance it was easier on me if I was not pregnant to see AF come than to see a negetive pregnancy test. So I would wait till then. After 17 months of trying and finally getting pregnant, I know what it is like.

I would wait at least until the 13th if not a day or 2 later.
I am like you and wanted to know ASAP because we tried for 20 months for #2.

Home pregnancy tests are pretty sensitive and accurate, even early on. I took one about 3 weeks after my last period (about a week before it was due) and I got a positive reading.

The waiting is so hard-I feel you with that!! Good luck no matter how long you decide to wait, and keep us updated.

I'd wait until the day your period is due. You can take them few days early, but you may get a false negative. I took mine about 3 days after and got a strong and quick BFP!

I wouldn't test too soon b/c if you could get a negative and still be preggo. Wait until as close to your period as you can possible handle for the best results!

And if you just ovulated last Tuesday, that would only put you at 6dpo (days past ovulation) which would be way too early to test. I know how hard it is to wait and trust me I know, we've been ttc #1 for 2.5 years!

I know you guys are right, especially Kat. To see my AF is easier to handle than to see a negative test. Not a lot, but it's kinda less disappointing, I guess.

Hi ladies...

I haven't been on the boards for a long while, but we're still diligently trying... So to answer Chrystal's question, no I was not pregnant, but.........

I ovulated around the 19th of June and of course we did what we were supposed to around that time LOL. And since Saturday my breasts have been very tender. It's been 10 days since ovulation, so maybe this time.

Today is me and Chris's 5th year anniversary so I'm thinking of testing tonight without telling him and maybe suprise him with a positive result? The HPT I bought says it's 95% accurate from 10 days after conception so you never know!! If it's negative tonight I'll just have to wait until the weekend and see if AF comes or not. It's due on Friday.

So I'll let you ladies know!!
