Hey, just wondering how Erynn's feeling with her palate expander...did she get braces put on too? Quinn was a drooly, miserable mess for awhile after the expander was in. Good luck, hope she's ok!

woot Im feeling all special getting mail lol. She was a little upset when we went to McDonalds right after her appt to get some lunch. She took a bite of her french fry and couldnt figure out how to chew with all the stuff in her mouth. She was crying so me, being the big sucker I am went and bought her a large chocolate shake lol. She brought some of her food home(what we didnt give out to the rest of the kids that were with us) and she tried again that evening and was able to eat the fries and nuggets so she was happy. I still sent a cup of noodles for lunch the next day though and some applesauce because they were having pizza and I wasnt sure how that would work out for her. She is drooling, well collecting the drool then sucking it up nonstop. She still cant talk very well but after really looking at everything in there I am not sure I would be talking as good as she is lol. I have adjusted it once already and I dont like doing it, I cant see the holes, she sticks her tongue in the way and I just dont know if I did it right. grrr but I guess that will get easier with time. She did get 2 little brackets so far on the top teeth. When the other 2 drop down they will put brackets on them as well. She is getting a lip bumper at some point, not sure if thats the next appt or what and she will eventually have braces on the bottom 4 teeth as well. How long did Quinn have his palate expander in?? They told me they typically dont keep it in for more than 6 months and Erynn and I already have the countdown on lol. Thanks for thinking of her!! I need to take a pic of her with it all in her mouth.

Poor kid! Sounds like she's adjusting, but what a thing to go through. The drooling does stop once they get used to it. Then Quinn used to get food stuck in it and he would make this godawful noise, trying to get it out. I hear that noise in my sleep still! And adjusting it is really tricky. I used to make Quinn lie on the floor under the lamp so I could see. He had his in for 8 months...don't tell Erynn that lol. Good luck with everything.

Yeah I have been trying to lay her on the floor in the best lit room in the house. We also have a flashlight in hand so I can shine it in to see if I can see the next hole. I have to do it again tonight, hoping I can get it done again lol.

Yep I cant wait for that appt on sept 10th to make sure I have been doing things right lol. She had a wire pop out last night. It slid back in very easily and I texted one of the girls that works at the ortho office to make sure it was ok that I just slid it back in or if she would need to come in today to have them do anything with it. Luckily she said it was fine and they will replace the wire next appt so as long as its not bothering her she was fine to wait. I adjusted it again last night though and it went perfect so thats good. lol
