Yep, got the test results back today. My great-grandmother used to always say it that way "I got the diabetes." Like it was a virus or something. Anyway, went for more blood tests this morning and have to set-up a counseling appointment at our diabetes center and what not. They didn't even do the 3 hour test. They offered it to me but said I didn't have to because my level was so high and because of my history (I reacted severely bad with my last pregnancy during the 3 hour test). Am looking at the positive though...it will help me keep my weight down which I haven't been so good at lately. I will be eating healthier which will make me feel better. I should have a big pudgy baby and since I tend to go early, I don't have to worry she will be tiny. Hmmm, any other positives you ladies can think of?
So I made an appointment to set up my training and they couldn't get me in for 3 weeks! Good thing I called right away or I'd be bringing the baby along in her carseat instead of my belly! My OB's office said to wait on everything until the training. I'm glad I know a bit about the disease so I can take precautions until I get in but I feel bad for the mommies that are clueless and have to wait that long.
Big hugs sweetie. I know that you will do great. I had GD with my first son. I craved grill chicken salads and lemons. Yummy, Right? LOL I only gained 9 lbs and lost 32 in the first 6 weeks. He was born at 39 weeks exactly and weighed 6 lbs and 6 ozs. You have a very positive outlook. They thought I would have it with the twins also, my one hour was way more than with Coby, but I ended up not having it after the 3 hour.
One of our closest friends runs the nutrition counseling department so when she found out it was me, I was in there the next day for my counseling. I was glad she helped but pointed out to her that no expecting mom should need to wait that long when they are at risk. Anyway, have started my diet and the only thing I seem to be having trouble with is eating often enough. I bottomed out yesterday because I got busy and forgot to eat a snack mid-morning. Won't do that again! I also need to test 4 times a day! Wow, I didn't think it would be that much and though I'm doing pretty good with it, I do tend to lose track of time and miss my testing time. I'm gonna have to get a watch with an alarm to remind me. All in all, better than I expected though!
I had it when i was pregnant too. And they didn't do the 3 hour either lol. Yeah just eat healthy and keep track of your sugars. i know with me, I had to check them 4 times a day and then depending on how high they were had to give myself an insulin shot. I was induced for other reasons 3 weeks early, and had a 6 pounder baby. I believe as long as you take good care of yourself you won't have a "big pudgy baby" lol
I had it too with Kaylee. Definatly make sure you are eating often enough so you don't bottom out again. I did good on the diet. After I had her I was actually 10 pounds lighter than before I got pregnant. I was hoping to loose more but it isn't happening but I also I am not eating how I was. They were really strick with where my sugar levels should be. I had to be 90 and below fasting and 120 and lower 2 hours after I ate. I had to test 4 times a day also. I also had to do the insulin twice a day. Do they have you on insulin? I did feel better on the diet. I also had a puggy baby even though she was 2 1/2 weeks early. She came out perfectly healthy!!!
Sarahbeth: I like pudgy babies. Don't burst my bubble already. LOL
Kat: They don't have me on insulin as so far I am able to control things with diet. My requirements are a little different that yours though. I have to be below 90 fasting but I have to test 1 hour after eating and need to be below 130. So, pretty close to yours.
Still holding strong and have only had 3 results out of the correct range since I started so pretty good I think.
