I am so sad for this mother! I feel fortunate to live in a big city...if I had found myself in this situation when pregnant with Amelia I would have been able to easily change doctors and hospitals, but she does not have that choice. She has to move away from her husband.

Just a reminder to all c-section mommies...if you have no underlying factors...its your choice! Don't let others choose for you! There are risks in everything from conception to birth, you just have to weigh all the options and risks as it pertains to you...not some case study.

I just saw this article! I'm so sad for the Father who can't even be there for his Son's birth. That stinks.

That just seems ridiculous. There are so many procedures that are performed that have higher than a 1% risk and they aren't stopping those. I feel so bad for this mom and her DH. I can't imagine going through birth alone like that...but then again, I totally get her not wanting a c-section. Terrible.

That is so crazy. My second son was a c-section and I went on to have 2 great Vbac's with now problems. It should be your choice not the hospital. They inform you on all the risks so you shouldn't have to be forced if you really don't want a repeat section. Especially if you have no complications.

It is very common lately for hospitals to not perform VBAC's. I hate that they are taking away the woman's right to deliver how she wants to. That being said there is no way in heck that I would move hours away and deliver by myself just to be able to have a VBAC. I would rather be forced into a c-section then do that.

I think it's awful she can't make her own decisions, but i would not move away to go have my baby away from my husband, i'd rather just deal with the c-section, i will probably end up having to have a c-section this time b/c of issues with hospitals and my insurance and such, my dr. can't perform vbacs at the hospital where i had Nicholas under my insurance b/c it's considered too large of a risk and he said many insurance companies are doing the same. I'm seeing a new doctor closer the middle of next month but after speaking to the insurance people and the hospital closer i'm getting about the same answers, while they don't prohibit them they are making it very hard to perform, the insurance doesn't prohibit them but only allows them under very special circumstances and if there are extra costs from them they won't cover it so it's a huge mess. All that said as long as they keep me awake this time i'll be fine with a c-section i didn't have a bad experience other than being knocked out due to the dilotid, i recovered quickly and was out of the hospital within 48 hours of arriving
