Melina...I immediately thought of your family last night when I heard this on the news! I couldn't remember at first where Rex worked and finally they said the guys name that was killed and I remembered that Rex works somewhere really small. It's very sad and I'll definitely be praying for his wife.

Melissa, Rex works just the next city over. He had left early while I was asleep. I woke up to the admin pages that were being sent out. I could not get a hold of him and completely started to panic. When I got a hold of him he had been inside the PD and didn't even know about it. If he would have known he would have been right there in the middle of it. He was really good friends with him and it has really hit home. I worked in their dispatch office today and it was completely an eye opener. It is so amazing how everyone pulls together. We had officers from other cities, the county and dps covering their city. His wife was called to come home...and then heard about him being killed over the radio. She keeps saying that they were both christians and the he died doing what he loved. It just breaks my heart.

The other really sad news that he was killed on 04/02/09 and the last officer that was killed in our county was 04/03/1980. That was just a little to erotic.

I ask that you all please continue to keep them in your prayers. He will be layed to rest on Tuesday morning.
