I LOVE MY SUGAR BUBS Mother of All Posters |
But I dont have a clue of what I am doing!
Our landlord pulled out the bushes on either side of our house right in the front and now its just dirt there,a muddy mess when it rains.I thought it would be cute with some flowers and little decorations like for a garden..but Im not the gardening type! So,do I plant seeds or bulbs?Do I put down saoil or what?I am clueless! "I adore their smiles I cherish their hugs I admire their sense of humor But most of all I love that they are my SONS" "I'll teach my children to love, they will learn to hate on there own" |

I wouldn't start with seeds. Let someone else do that for you. I buy baby plants. Read the spacing and sun needs. If you already have a muddy area then you will need to add some mulch after you have your plants in the ground. I also wouldn't use anything too dainty. In the past I have used Hostas (for green - they come back every year so worth the money), begonias (grow very well - they have flowers and green bottoms so they are strong), petunias (multiply very well), coleus (lots of color - no flowers), don't forget a weed blocker before you plant to keep your work down. As for bulbs - keep in mind that they will come back every year, making them good for the price and they will multiply each year. If you want flowers this year I would plant bulbs that have sprouted already for this year. I am going to plant some day lilies around my tree in the front yard in a few weeks. You can plant bulbs later in the year as well before the ground freezes as well.

Too late for bulbs you need to plant those in the fall after the first freeze so that they are ready to go in the spring. I agree just buy the starter plants.
Add some peatmoss and some good potting soil to your area and mix it all in then add a layer of that weed sheild and then another layer of moss. Then when you plant the flowers/plants just cut a small hole in the fabric and put the plant in. Check out what goes best in your area put tall bush plants like goats beard and butterfly bush in the back they get tall and attract the butterflies and they are pretty. Then go with whatever flowers you like. I am sure you will do just fine. |

Honestly if it's your first year I would just go to Walmart or Meijer and go to their garden center and pick out a few things...most of those have the instructions on the little pick that's sticking in them that tells you the name....that's what I did...
First of all, let me say that I do believe in true love. But I also deeply believe in the complexity, variety, and downright insanity of love. A lucky person loves hundreds of people in their lives, all in different ways, family love, friendship love, romantic love, all in so many shades and depths. I don't think you lose your ability--or right--to have true love by loving more than one person. In part, this is true because you never love two people the same way. Another part of it is that, if your lucky, you learn to love better with practice. The bottom line is that you have to choose who you are going to commit to-that's the foundation of true love, not a lack of other options. ~Stephenie Meyer |
