Is this possible? Father-in-law left a hateful entry (which I deleted) and I would like to just remove the link or close the guest book.

No, you can't remove your guestbook. You can password protect your baby's web page so that only the friends and family you want to be able to view your baby's web page (and sign your guestbook) are able to. Just be sure you don't tell your FIL your password.
