Well, I guess I should be jumping with joy at the fact that Lily took a bottle today without even thinking twice... but in all honesty I'm a little bit sad!! I went grocery shopping without the kids this afternoon while Hubby looked after them. I guess Lily got fussy, and I had left a couple ounces of pumped breast milk in a Medela bottle... DH warmed it up and gave it to her and she chugged it! He said she didn't seem at all confused about it. She was hungry when I got home and went to the breast without any hesitation... I wasn't going to give her a bottle this soon but maybe it wont be as hard a transition as I had originally thought!!

I'm just sad that my little 2-week-old baby is already a little less dependent on me... *sigh* They grow up way too fast!!!

Jehn, Your DD and my DD are only 3 days apart. When Autumn was borh, her liver was immature so she had to bottle feed with formula after 2 days. I was heart broken thinking that she would never latch to me again. After 10 days of hospital stays, phototherapy, bottle feeding and pumping and dumping to keep a milk supply, in hopes that she would take to the breast again, I am happy to say tha tAutumn nurses like she never took a bottle before. I am kind of happy that I can do both. I do produce tons of milk due to exclusively pumping for nearly 2 weeks that Autumn does not drain me enough at night. So at night DH bottle feeds while I pump so I am not awake for an hour or better in the middle of the night. It is really nice to know tha tI do not have to BF and then go and pump after so I am not in complete engorged pain in an hour. LOL!

It's a good thing she'll take a bottle, but I know what you mean. It feels like she kinda took a step away from you when she took it. However, just think about how much easier it'll be for you to step out when you need to. And it's not like she had formula - she still had your breast milk.

Glad she took it...and hopefully she will continue to when necessary unlike my stinker who glady took the bottle and then revolted before starting daycare!
