My supply is half of what it used to be. Ever since I was in the hospital it has gone WAY down. First I was told not to give Carson the breast milk because of the meds but then I found out it was ok. I pumped in the hospital and left with about 20 bottles(3 oz) each that were full. Rob gave him formula for the first couple of days which sucked but my health was more important. Now when I nurse him it seems like 5 minutes later I am empty and when I pump I am barely getting 3 oz total. Maybe I need to pump more often...any suggestions?

Just keep nursing as much as you can dont stop the more you do the more you will get, you know that. After you nurse him give him a bottle of pumped milk and the once he is asleep try pumping more its hard to get it back up and takes time but its worth it for him!

What about Fenergreek or asking yoru ob aboutthe rx med to take to up milk supply. They may would do it since you were in the hospital. Also what about a SNS? That way even if hes getting pumped milk or formula hes stimulating your breast to produce more? Oatmeal the real stuff. If you dont like that make cookies! Look at kelly mom and see what else they say to increase and to decrease and be sure yoru not doing any of that either!

Don't wait. I would go right in to your doctor and ask for domperidone. THat stuff worked wonders for Gabriella and I. I learned after losing supply with Hunter not to wait. I was able to make it to 10 months on that stuff, twice as long as Hunter and I made it without. Take it as directed, add some fenugreek in, can't hurt and nurse Carson as often as possible.

Yes pump pump pump as much as you can. I was so worried when you and your supply when you had to go to the hospital. I didn't want you to have to struggle like you did last time. I agree with Kriss. Since you have had extra stumbling blocks this time I would ask your dr for a script. You already know you will probably have to go for another surgery in a few months and would like to have a stash by then. And then he will be eating more too. I am sure you are already drinking tons of water with your kidney stones but it really does make a difference. Fenugreek did help me a little but really pumping and nursing was the best. I would let Jonathan just use me as a pacifier some days and tried to use my lower producer as much as possible. Just hang in there as much as you can. I know it is hard but thankfully you are able to stay home a bit longer with Carson with having to rush right back to work.
