So you all know i have still been nursing Kahlan and decided that when i had the baby i would just nurse both. Well she does not seem to care for it, her mouth is so small and my nipples are huge she just does not seem comfortable trying to latch on and cant seem to get it all in so i am on the verge of switching her. It would be so much easier to have them both weened but it is so hard to actually make he decision to do it. Any advice!! I mean i keep thinking why did Kahlan take so well to it and she just does not seem to be able to catch on KWIM.. So i have been kind of disappointed in myself for thinking about weening her not so much Kahlan because he is 19 months old and does not need it.

Have you tried a nipple shield? If i remember right if you have big nipple ist doesnt all have to be in the mouth just as much as you can. Id keep working with her. She small and its only been 2 weeks right? Does she do better on 1 side over the other? If so try that and let Kahlan have the other..lol.. And or pump the other and stock pile it . I wouldnt gove up knowing youve been sucessfull just yet. 1 other thing is she nurising before or after Kahlan or is your let down too forcefull maybe since your boobs are use dto Kahlan? Just some ideas..lol..

I have been using the nipple shield because they help with the soreness also but she still doesnt care for it.I have given her formula a few times and she is a different baby i mean wow i have gotten 6 straight hours of sleep i dont feel i have gotten that in 19 months lol. I wont usually nurse Kahlan until after her because she needs the milk more. She does prefer my left side so maybe i will just pump my right side for right now...

I am thinking maybe she is having a hard time latching on because Kahlan has your nipples stretched out. I would keep working with the nipple shield for a while longer. I am sure she will get the hang of it and her mouth will grow and adjust to you. I know it is hard in the beginning.
