I was prescribed a Z-Pack and Cheratussin AC today (has codeine and guafenisien sp? in it).
Has anyone used these while breastfeeding? I hate taking something while breastfeeding, but I have been sick too long now and have to take something. The PA who prescribed it was aware I was breastfeeding and seemed knowledgeable, but I always like to follow up and do my own reseach, but I'm not finding a lot. The codeine seems questionable, but I plan on taking it at bedtime and it should be out of my system by the time I feed her in the morning.
But I can't really find anything on the z-pack. Drugs.com just says talk to your Dr. like everything else.
Any input would be appreciated!

did you search zithromicin? Im not sure thats spelt right but thats what the z pack is. Id think the codene would be long out of your system if shes going all night. If she sgoing to daycare id just them she may be a little sleepier that day.

For Z pack I searched azithromicin (sp?) which is where I found the talk to your Dr. Luckily she does sleep all night, so I'll take some cough syrup before going to bed and that will hopefully not affect her by tomorrow.

I was told that generally if it's ok when you're pregnant, it's ok when you're nursing. Both the Z-pack and the Cheratussin AC get the green light during pregnancy, so it should be good with nursing.
