Ok so I know that since its my first time that I may hurt off and on but I tell you what. I went and saw a lactation nurse yesterday and she told me that noghing is wrong. At this point I feel like I would rather just give up and bottlefeed.
I have shooting pain down the whole brest when he latches on and its so very sore. I have looked it up but nothing. It almost seems like some of my glands are blocked can this happen?? |

Yes I agree massage while feeding and use warm/hot wet towels and that will help the milk come out and if you do have any lumps loosen them up. Please Veronica, for your little guy dont give up, you can do it we are all here to support you if your family is not you can ask us anything. Trust me you regret it when you give up early, I did, I only got to 3 months when Troy cut his first teeth, but for his sake I think I could have pushed through. You are doing great to even have got this far. Even if you have to, pump if you want DH to help you just keep up the good work!

How long does the pain last? If it is just briefly you may just have a strong let down. If that is the case then just give it time and your body will adjust to his needs. You might try a hot shower before feeding to allow slow letdown or hand express a little before he latches on strong.
If the pain lasts much longer or all day then yes it sounds like a possible lump. Just heat can relieve both. |
